Also, when you Google Image Search for Storm Thorgerson this is in the first row of results and is featured in a blog post about Storm’s work from 2009. Except I made this. (It was actually the first digital collage I ever did.)
#5 - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Green With Evil (1993)
Sometimes I get bored, watch the miniseries where they introduce the Green Ranger and make a fake Criterion for it.
#4 - Thrashin’ aka Skate Gang, 1986, David Winters
I finally got bored enough to make a new fake Criterion. Loosely inspired by the 4 by Agnès Varda Criterion packaging. If you haven’t seen this film, download that shit immediately.
#3 - Kids, 1995, Larry Clark
Just whipped this one up at work tonight. I tried to make this one look like a photocopied zine. Seemed fitting.
Another fake Criterion. Kept it simple and based it on the cover of Bergman’s The Seventh Seal. If you haven’s seen Hour of the Wolf and like weird creepy films, check it out, because there really ought to be a Criterion release of this film.
#2 - Hour of the Wolf, 1968, Ingmar Bergman
So I decided to make some fake Criterion covers for fun/design practice.
#1 - The American Astronaut, 2001, Cory McAbee
I installed this app called Mixel on my iPad. It is for making collages. This will prove to be a fun time waster.
I did the cover for the most recent issue of local arts and culture newspaper The Scope. This was my original but I took out King Ghidora for the final printed version. I like the version with Ghidora better but the editor preferred it without. Click the link or the picture to see the actual printed version.
Having St. John’s attacked by monsters in Photoshop was pretty cathartic, it is worth mentioning.
