Fuck. My other comment didn’t show up. I stated that I think that the idea of a townie/bayman dynamic is more of a social construct and a cultural divide. Baymen are known to be hard workers—living off the land, fishing, hunting, forestry, etc.
Oh yeah, totally, there’s a lot more to it than what I posted, but in the context of what they were referencing (my previous post in which I was sarcastically written off as a bayman) it is just a way of explaining to someone with no knowledge of Newfoundland what the person meant.
