No way… Fandom is great (read Jenkins). The only people who dislike fans are those that want to keep texts to themselves, so as to perform a kind of superiority.
Nah dude I am referring to that subset of fans that take being fans of something to an absurd level of obsession. I mean, do you follow any Doctor Who tumblrs? It’s preposterous.
Like, I’m really into, say, Twin Peaks, I reblog a lot of Twin Peaks related shit, but I’m not reblogging sepia toned gifsets with bad typography “shipping” Cooper and Lucy.
Basically really awful fan art and fan fiction and other such obsessiveness makes certain things irritating as shit even whe I love them. (As above: Doctor Who.)
I will check out Jenkins’ thoughts on the topic though.
